Monitor Lodge No. 197 is Masonic Lodge under the Grand Lodge of Virginia, Ancient Free and Accepted Masons (A.F. & A.M).

Monitor Lodge was founded by Union soldiers at Fort Monroe in 1864, chartered in 1865 and is still going strong! We have been part of Phoebus since its creation, moving into our current location on Mellen Street in 1864 shortly after we were founded. In 1952, Phoebus became part of the city of Hampton, VA, and so did Monitor Lodge.

As Freemasons, we focus on bettering ourselves, our community, and our world. Our primary objective is to make good men better.
